SMALL BUSINESS ADVICE

Web Designer vs Web Design Agency in Adelaide

By Anthony · · 5 min read

Adelaide has plenty of agencies and independent designers. Both can produce great websites, but the experience of working with each is very different.

Who you actually talk to

With an agency, you often speak to an account manager who passes your feedback on to a designer or developer. With an independent designer, you speak to the person doing the work, which means fewer misunderstandings and faster decisions.

Cost and overheads

Agency pricing covers staff, management layers and premises. An independent studio has far lower overheads, so you are paying for design and development rather than the structure around it.

Speed and flexibility

Small changes can sit in an agency queue. Working directly with one senior designer and developer usually means quicker turnarounds and a more flexible process.

When an agency makes sense

Very large projects needing many specialists at once, or round-the-clock coverage, can suit an agency. For most small businesses, a direct relationship with an experienced independent is the better fit.

Questions to ask either option

  • Who will design and build my website?
  • Can I see real examples of your work?
  • How are changes and support handled after launch?
  • Will I own my website and content?
